To celebrate National Second Hand day this year, we’ve got something exciting up our Preloved sleeves. Now in its fourth year, National Second Hand Day is a time to celebrate what second hand means to you.
What is National Second Hand Day?
It’s one of the biggest days in the Preloved calendar! With loads of on-site events taking place, it’s not to be missed. We spend the day buying, selling, upcycling, repurposing and generally appreciating all of our favourite second hand items.
In previous years, Preloved members have taken this opportunity to clear their clutter, and list their unwanted items by creating an advert on Preloved or Freeloved.
As well as being the perfect time to buy and sell second hand items, National Second Hand Day is a day where we aim to raise awareness about how good buying second hand is for the environment. No more trees need to be chopped down to make a second hand table, and no more raw materials need to be used to make a second hand caravan. Know that, whilst saving money, you’re doing your bit for the environment too!
How will we be celebrating?
On the 24th April we’ll be hosting a Twitter chat exclusively in aid of National Second Hand Day! They’ll be more details to follow, so make sure you’re following us on Twitter@Preloved.
We’re on the hunt for Preloved members to tell us what second hand means to them. This can be anything from a simple quote, to a story about your favourite second hand-related experience. Perhaps you saved money on your wedding by buying second hand? Maybe you met your husband or wife at a car boot sale? We want to hear from you! You can email your stories and quotes over to us editorial@preloved.co.uk. The members who submit the best quote or story will win Preloved Full or Premium Membership, depending on how inspirational the quote or story is.
During the whole of National Second Hand Day, we’ll be offering everyone who visits the site the chance to grab Full or Premium Preloved Membership half price! You’d be crazy to miss that!
